TREADS-B example payload

This option for the TREADS-B (high altitude balloon) is offered as an alternative or additional testing platform. Because sounding rockets only have a 15 minute flight, it can sometimes be necessary to engage your payload in a pre-flight test. A high altitude balloon flight that can carry up to 110 lbs (50kg) can serve many customers needs. The balloon can reach up to 100,000 ft to obtain pictures.

The unique feature of the TREADS-B flight is that it can stay aloft for up to 24 hours. This means that you can run multiple experiments multiple times in one flight. This can prove out optics, algorithms, and payload survivability. TREADS-B is also convenient in that it can fly in any rural area in the U.S. The ballooning company that Redefine® uses is based in South Dakota. However, eastern Colorado and New Mexico are also appropriate and cost effective launch/landing sites.
